Moore was graduated from Wake Forest College in 1890, and was a long-time pastor of Baptist churches in North Carolina. He was Southern Baptist Convention Sunday School Board Secretary, 1904-07; editor of the Biblical Recorder, 1908-17; editorial secretary of the Sunday School Board (Southern Baptist Convention); and writer.

This collection contains, biographical/genealogical information, photographs, newspaper clippings, and speeches and addresses of Moore. The bulk of his papers consists of his notebooks, 1921-51 [broken series], containing his commentaries on weekly Sunday School lessons entitled "Points for Emphasis" .
