This collection consists of biographical information, sermons and sermon notes, a photograph, personal correspondence, and Cape Fear Baptist Association notes concerning the Baptist pastor and Wake Forest alumni David Needham Gore.

Biographical and Historical Note

David Needham Gore was born in Columbus, North Carolina in 1835 and was a graduate of Wake Forest College (date unknown). Throughout his life David N. Gore held quite a few occuptions including teacher, physician, missionary, but most importantly, a pastor. Reverend Daivd Needham Gore was the first pastor of the Piney Forest Church after it was organized in 1869. He was pastor from 1869-1875 and then again from 1877-1879. In 1871 he led in the organization of the Sunday School. It is also unclear if David N. Gore was part of the Civil War under the 18th, North Carolina Regiment as a Chaplain.
