  Historical Note
The Wake Forest Scientific Society began in 1891 and possibly disbanded around 1903. The group met monthly, though not all months are accounted for in the meeting minutes ledger. William Louis Poteat was the first president of the organization and the group seems to consist mostly of faculty members.
The Student Scientific Society began in 1912 and continued through to 1913, at least. The organization's first president was E. D. Johnson.
