Biographical Note

Carey Johnson Hunter (1857-1923) was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1881). He was later the state agent for an insurance company in Raleigh, North Carolina. He served on the Wake Forest College Board of Trustees, 1895-1923, as Chairman of the Executive Committee and the Investments Committee.

Collection Overview

His papers contain correspondence and one printed item relating to the contribution of the General Education Board of the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina to the endowment of Wake Forest College; a printed brochure relating to the Standard Oil Stock owned by the college; and Dr. Charles E. Taylor's report to the trustees for the academic year, 1905-1906.
