Feb 27 [ 1816] This evening I have attended a wedding at Judge Olins in Leicester I rode in the carriage with my sister and Br. Jon'a We had an agreeable and interesting chat on the way and arived [sic] in season I was much pleased with the simplicity of the celebration Many ceremonies of which the fashionable part of the world are peculiarly fond were omited [sic] I saw nothing in the course of the evening that I thought needless The parties were neatly dressed but plainly After they had joined hands and were pronounced lawfully married Elder B made a very appropriate prayer
