Since New Year's the weather has been extremely cold. Some days the shining of the sun on the one side and the heat of the stove on the other, made not the least impression on the frost on the windows. Some nights, water has frozen frozen hard standing in a vessel on the stove after having kept a good fire in it till nearly midnight- I received last week the first No. of the "Star" for this year. It was superscribed to you, but there was no name on the paper, and I do not know by whom it was sent; I was, however, very glad to see it. With young Cranch[?] poem delivered at the commencement I was highly delighted Our business since I wrote you last has been very dull. The season of the year is quite unfavorable. I have not been to meeting since you left. Sunday evening. Sister Burrington and Sister Martha have gone out this evening, and I and our little daughter who lies sleeping in the cradle by my side, are consequently left alone. I feel a little pensive. My mind runs hither and thither. Were you with us this evening
