New York June 9, 1831 My dear Husband, I arrived in this place yesterday morning, and expect to leave tomorrow morning for Norfolk via steam boats and stages. There is only one vessel in this harbour bound for Newbern-- a sloop Capt. Smith a man not more than 20 years of age. I went on board of to view her accommodations. The result was, I could not think of taking passage in her. Her aft is extremely small, berths unpleasantly situated, &c. She set sail this morning. I put on board of her all my baggage except my trunk, and directed it to the care of Br. Riggs. I have written him a letter which will be mailed with this. I left Tinmouth one week ago: our friends in that place all well-- visisted our friends in White Creek on my way; our friends there also all well. On last Sabbath, had the great satisfaction of seeing Br. And Str. Burrington baptized; Sister Wing was baptized two weeks before. Sister Martha also indulges a hope in Christ Jesus.
