Br. Charles Rollin Merriam, who resides in Lansingburgh, accompanied me to this City and has assisted me very much Samuel W. Powers was very sick when I left Brandon. Some fears were entertained that he would not recover. The rest of our friends in B. all well. Myself and A. E. are now pretty well. We have been indisposed a part of the time since we left Brandon. We rode from that place to Tin in an open waggon, which circumstance nearly threw me into a billious fever; I had one large umbrella spread over our heads all day, but it was not a sufficient screen from the scorching rays of the sun. For two or three days I thought I should not be able to proceed on my journey. I intend to be very cautious and stop on the way if our health requires it. I am at the house of Mr. B. Colgate. Yours affectionately, S.M.Wait
