Smyrna Baptist Church was established in 1801 as a member of the Catawba River Baptist Association.
  Scope and Contents
Minutes of church conferences from Feb. 1809 to Mar. 1901, including male, female, and African American membership lists; treasurer's reports and collections; association letters; the dismissal of church members, May 1854, to form a new church on "temperance principles if constituted at all"; and their use of a building as a school house and a church (1867).
