Cherryfield Baptist Church was organized May 8, 1877 as Mount Moriah-Cherryfield. On April 16, 1967, it dropped Mount Moriah from its name. This church has been a member of Salem [E], and Transylvania (1878-present) Baptist associations.
Reel 1 purchased from the North Carolina State Archives on May 4, 1970. Reel 2 items (newsletters) were gifts from the church, and they were discarded after filming. Reel 3 purchased from the Southern Baptist Historical Library and Archives, Nashville, on March 23, 2004.

Records consist of minutes of church conferences from May 1908 to September 28, 1969, including membership rolls; and copies of the "Cherryfield Church Chimes" [newsletter], 1978-1982, and business meeting minutes 1990-2002.
