A group of twenty-five men and women met in 1983 in Greensboro, N.C., to consider forming an organization that would support North Carolina women who felt called to ministry. After a year of planning, they adopted a statement of purpose and the Baptist Women in Minstry of North Carolina began. This group "provides a network of support for women who feel called to ministry through retreats, fellowship, mentoring partnerships, newsletters, and social media." They also fund scholarships for Baptist women at their four partnering NC Divinity Schools, and provide opportunities for divinity school students to gain training, support, and experience in all areas of ministry.
This collection contains materials relating to the Baptist Women in Ministry of North Carolina. Its contents range from correspondence and committee meeting minutes and agendas, to financial and membership records, to printed materials such as brochures, flyers, and pamphlets.
