Biographical Note Charles Elisha Taylor was a Baptist pastor, professor, and president of Wake Forest College from 1884-1905. During the Civil War, Taylor served with Company F, 10th Virginia Cavalry and with the Secret Service. Scope and Contents Note These papers contain approximately 39 letters written during the Civil War (1861-1864) to family members relating his activities and approximately 10 letters written while a student at the University of Virginia and afterwards (1866-1873). His letter book contains letterpress copies of correspondence with students, parents, families, the college attorney, and trustees of Wake Forest College from 1885-1890.
