William Tell Brooks (1809-1883) was a native of Chatham County, North Carolina, and an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1839). This collection contains biographical and genealogical materials, sermons, notebooks, and his student diaries.

Biographical Note
William Tell Brooks (1809-1883) was a native of Chatham County, North Carolina, and an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1835). He was ordained at Rives' Chapel in May 1835. He later worked as a tutor (1843-1846) and Assistant Professor of Languages (1846-1858) at the College. Additionally, he served as President of the College's Board of Trustees and President of the Baptist State Convention of N.C. (1869-1874). Brooks was also pastor of First Baptist Church in Henderson, N.C., Mount Vernon Baptist Church, and Forestville Baptist Church.
