This collection contains biographical and genealogical materials, sermons, notebooks, and his student diaries. Brooks, W. Wake Forest College. Biographical Note William Tell Brooks (1809-1883) was a native of Chatham County, North Carolina, and an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1835). He was ordained at Rives' Chapel in May 1835. He later worked as a tutor (1843-1846) and Assistant Professor of Languages (1846-1858) at the College. Additionally, he served as President of the College's Board of Trustees and President of the Baptist State Convention of N.C. (1869-1874). Brooks was also pastor of First Baptist Church in Henderson, N.C., Mount Vernon Baptist Church, and Forestville Baptist Church. Access Restrictions This collection is open for use.
