Smith Reynolds Library Special Collections and Archives 0.71 linear feet 8 slide boxes, circa 1950-1969 Lloyd Winchell Biebigheiser (1884-1961) was an architect and designer. Biebigheiser was hired by architect Jens Fredrik Larson to design ornamental features of Wake Forest College's Winston-Salem Reynolda campus. Biebigheiser also documented the progress of the construction with more than 500 slide photographs, 1951-1956, of campus construction. This collection also contains a small amount of born-digital images of Biebigheiser family photographs. Biebigheiser, Lloyd Winchell, 1884-1961 Collection Overview Biebigheiser documented the progress of Wake Forest campus construction with more than 500 slide photographs. Beginning with the groundbreaking ceremony in 1951 and ending with the first Convocation on the new campus in 1956, this collection provides a photographic history of Reynolda campus construction through its color slides. Biographical Note Lloyd Winchell Biebigheiser (1884-1961) was an architect and designer trained in the Beaux Arts tradition. Biebigheiser was hired by architect Jens Fredrik Larson to design the ornamental features, such as lighting fixtures and chandeliers, stone and wood carvings, and wrought iron designs, for Wake Forest College's new Winston-Salem campus.
