Sandy Run Baptist Church was organized in 1740 and restored in 1773. This church was listed as Bertie, 1769-1825. This church has been a member of the Kehukee (1769-1805); Chowan (1806-83); and West Chowan (1883-present) Baptist associations.
This volume contains church meeting minutes at Sandy Run and meeting minutes at Pottacasy meeting house [later formed Potecasi Baptist Church] (1773-1804) [broken series], a copy of deed (1821), biographical sketches of Lemuel Burkitt (1807), and membership rolls of males, females, and African Americans (free blacks and slaves).
