The contents of these records contain minutes from conferences from between November 17, 1821 to December 12, 1960 [broken series]; deacon's minutes; associational letters; treasurer's records; church building and property papers; and newspaper clippings, 1900-1970 [broken series].
The contents of this acquisition were received on loan for microfilming and return to the church from Dr. John Bell of Cullowhee, N.C. on January 21, 1973. The church minute books (5 volumes) that range from 1821 to 1960 and a treasurer's book with dates ranging from 1927 through 1928 were donated to the Hunter Library at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. in October 1992.

Cullowhee Baptist Church was organized November 17, 1821 at the Tuckasegee Meeting House by a presbytery consisting of Elders Adam Corn and Joseph Byers from Crabtree Baptist Church. There were ten members - five males and five females - that had been dismissed from Locust Old Field (now Canton Baptist Church) in Haywood County. The church was named Unity Baptist Church. In April 1822, the members agreed to apply for membership in the French Broad Baptist Association. The church moved to Cullowhee Creek and changed its name to Cullowhee in December of 1830. Cullowhee has been a member of the Tuckaseigee Baptist Association since its formation in 1829.
