 Biographical Note

Marc Hoyle Lovelace was orn June 5, 1920, in Henrietta, N.C, to Arsola Crawford Lovelace and Maude White Lovelace. He grew up in Shelby and Thomasville, North Carolina, and graduated from High Point College. He later received his Master of Theology Degree and Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky.

He served as a Baptist pastor in eight states and in England, Jordan, and Greece, in addition to teaching. Lovelace taught at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, as Associate Professor of Religion (1946-1952) at Wake Forest College, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Stetson University. Lovelace retired in 1993 and died March 31, 2008, in Winston-Salem, N.C. He was married to Mary Louise Lovelace, known as Midge.
