Wake Forest College's D.V.L. Fraternity encouraged its male members to pursue brotherhood, intellectual advancement, and leadership. Following the "While We Live" motto, members were involved in many social events, such as banquets. Materials in this collection include record books, ledger notes, member lists, and banquet menus.

Biographical and Historical Note

The Dum Vivimus Ludamos (D.V.L.) Fraternity was established at Wake Forest College around 1894. As expressed in the name, Dum Vivimus Ludamos, the fraternity has the motto "While We Live." From 1894-1896, the fraternity consisted of 22 members. Notable members include ninth University president, Thurman D. Kitchin, A. Hamilton Powell, and W. Horace Stillwell.
