This program and interview centers around the development of the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) program. Dr. Kristina Gupta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies provided an introdcution to Dr. Julia Jordan-Zachery, Chair of the Department of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Dr. Jordan-Zachery, centers her discussion on the importance of archiving the labor that is conducted by those in the department, hoping to preserve the stories and voices of those who came before. She references Alice Walker and her research into Zora Neale Hurston to articulate this point and its importance. Dr. Jordan-Zachery also goes through the history of the department, providing insight into how the program has grown since its inception in 1983 with the approval of the minor. She became the Director of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest in 2021.
