In this interview, Dr. Linda McKinnish Bridges provides insight into her life and career at Wake Forest. She begins with her childhood in the mountains of North Carolina. From a young age she describes being taught to "be a blessing to people" by giving back to the community. It is this philsophy and her dedication to religious studies that McKinnish Bridges has carried throughout her life. She earned her bachelor's degree at Meredith College, her master's in divinty and Christian Education, and doctorate in New Testament Studies and Greek from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. McKinnish Bridges was influential in establishing the Baptist Theological Seminary for women to study divinity, leading them to pursue career in preaching. She arrived at Wake Forest University as Associate Dean of the College. With her interest in women's studies, McKinnish Bridges became the Interim Director of the Women's Studies program from 2001 to 2002.
