description
Dr. Mark Covington-Booth (he/him) is from Winston-Salem, NC and attended Wake Forest from the fall of 2009 through the spring of 2013. He now lives in Washington DC, where he serves as a therapist after earning his PhD from George Washington University. He continues to stay involved in the Wake Forest community by serving as a counselor for students studying in the Wake Washington program. This interview discusses Dr. Covington-Booth's experience as a "townie" at Wake Forest and his journey coming to terms with his identity as a Black gay man. He discusses his relationship with Dr. AJ Mazaris (they/them) and his experience at the LGBTQ Center at Wake Forest beginning with the center's opening in 2011. During his time at Wake, Dr. Covington-Booth was a member of Theta Chi fraternity, the Innuendo a cappella group, and was active in the musical theater program. Additionally, he served as a student worker in Residential Life and Housing (ResLife).
