- description
- Jennifer Collins (she/hers) was a Wake Forest University Law Professor from 2003 until 2013 and also served as Assistant Provost and Vice Provost in 2010 and 2013, repsectively. At the time of this interview, she was currently the Dean of the Southern Methodist's University Law School in Dallas, Texas. In June of 2022, she will take over the role of the President of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. The interview focuses largely on Collins' role in establishing the LGBTQ Center at Wake Forest University and her overall experience doing so. Collin emphasized the strong desire for an LGBTQ center from her law students, undergraduate students, and faculty once she became a Provost. Collins also spoke of the outpouring of support for LGBTQ members and the center when anti-gay rhetoric was present on campus. Collins also speaks of how founding the center has helped better inform her efforts in increasing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the institutions she went to after departing from Wake Forest University.
