- description
- Aidan Liu (he/him) is a former Wake Forest student who began his transition during his college career. In addition to being involved with the LGBTQ Center, he was also involved in the Baptist Student Union, as well as the Asian Student Interest Association. However, as he remained closeted for the rest of his time at Wake Forest, he lived what he called a "double life", where he separated his life as a trans man from his life as a WFU student. He also spoke of the anxieties that he felt in regards to being trans, such as the harm that mass media does in regards to portraying a very specified version of queer people. However, because of many positive experiences, such as attending T-Time and Lavender graduation, he said that the benefits outweigh the downsides. He even goes as far to say that it was realizing that he is trans and beginning to transition in the safety of the queer community that was the biggest reward of attending WFU, not recieving a diploma.
