- description
- Dr. Sarah Shoaf is a 1976 graduate of Wake Forest University. During her time, she was a part of Strings, a social society for women from 1973 to 1976. When the society was dissolved in favor of a sorority in 1993, Shoaf was inducted into Pi Beta Phi and served as the organization's alumni advisor throughout its existence. In this interview, she discusses the creation of Pi Beta Phi and the issues associated with its formation and eventual dissolution. She also recalls many memories from her time as a String including being a part of the "Small Group" singing ensemble. Shoaf also discusses the rush process and the socialization through parties, events, and other activities that resulted from being a part of Strings. She received a degree in Physician Assistant Studies and went on to work as a PA for many years. Dr. Shoaf recently retired from her position as an orthodontist in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
