description
Thomas K. Hearn was appointed the University's 12th president in 1983 and served until June 2005. He received bachelor's degrees at Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama and a divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kentucky and a doctorate in philosophy from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. In this interview, Hearn discusses the search committee that attracted him to Wake Forest University, the expansion and addition of campus buildings (e.g., Benson Center, Olin), the restructuring of administration, and his involvement in adding members to the Committee Board and Board of Trustee. Hearn also discusses Wake Forest University's break from the Baptist State Convention, the outcomes of that split, and the responses from faculty.
