- John P. Anderson received a Master of Science degree in engineering mechanics and applied mathematics, a doctorate in engineering from Georgia Tech, an MBA from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and a Master of Arts degree in education (counselor education program) at Wake Forest. Anderson was Vice President for Administration and Planning (Budget), chaired the Athletic Oversight Committee, and Professor Emeritus in the Department of Counseling. In this interview, Anderson discusses his time at WFU with President Thomas Hearn, international programs, student programs, funding for the STARS program, WFU's technology plan at a liberal arts college, the IRA, and facilities. Anderson discusses in detail the building architects (Ed Boldin and A. C. Harris), building constructions and renovations (physics, library, chemistry, Olin, the Pit, Winston Hall, Salem Hall, Greene Hall, Calloway Center, Benson University Center), their five-year plan, and budget estimations. Anderson also discusses the challenges and constraints with construction (weather, professors, asbestos, negotiations, and Duke Power). He talks about his relationship with Thomas Hearn, his management presence, performance reviews, and project management.
