- This black-and-white image features a prominent stone tower and the adjoining courtyard. The tower has a conical roof topped with a weather vane, and a small balcony with wrought iron railings just below a window. The courtyard is framed by the estate's buildings, which feature stone walls, arched windows, and shutters. The courtyard is neatly landscaped with potted plants and shrubs. The label accompanying the photograph reads,"Arthur E. Newbold, Jr. Stair Tower, Laverock, Pennsylvania (Meigs, An American Country House, 1925).
