Meheret 'Beza' Zelalem is a Wake Forest undergraduate student from Charolotte, North Carolina. She is majoring in African American Studies and dual minoring in Environmental Studies and Journalism. Zelalem has interests in environmental justice and sustainability. This interview focuses on her academic and social experiences at Wake Forest as she discusses her work as a staff writer for Wake Forest's campus newspaper, The Old Gold & Black. Zelalem also gives insight into the importance of the university's new African American Studies department and ways students of color can benefit from the close-knit and well-resourced academic community at Wake Forest.
