dc.description |
In the 1930s, North Carolina Baptist Hospital School of Nursing students participated in a two-month probation period before being fully admitted to the three-year school. During that two-month period, they were called “probies.” The ladies pictured here made it through the probation period and graduated in 1939. Mrs. Frank Smithdeal, R.N. (fourth from left with black velvet band on cap) and Baptist graduate, was acting Director of Nursing from 1939 to 1941 while Miss Edna Heinzerling was ill. |
