dc.description	Dr. Charles Douglas Maynard graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine in 1959. From 1963 to 1966, he did his residency at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He remained on faculty, being named Professor and Chair of Radiologic Sciences. Much advancement in radiologic sciences took place during Dr. Maynard?s tenure. In 1967 a radioisotope scanner was installed to greatly reduce scanning time for tumors. In 1983, an MRI was installed to visualize the structure and function of the body and in 1988, x-ray and CT scans went ?filmless? by installation of PACS (Picture Archival Communications Systems). Dr. Maynard retired in 2001 and was named Acting Dean of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and Chairman Emeritus of Radiological Sciences in 2002.	en_US
