Coy C. Carpenter was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1922), professor of pathology (1926-1967), and Dean (1935-1963) and Vice President (1963-1967) at the WFU School of Medicine, then known as the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. His papers consists of biographical information, newspaper clippings, a copy of his book A Story of Wake Forest and Memoirs of the Author, and materials from his memorial service.

Biographical and Historical Note
Coy C. Carpenter was born April 24, 1900, and died November 7, 1971. He was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (1922), professor of pathology (1926-1967), the first Dean of the medical school (1936-1963), and then Vice President at the WFU School of Medicine (1963-1967). The medical school, now the WFU School of Medicine, was originally known as the Bowman Gray School of Medicine. Carpenter was married to Dorothy Mitten Carpenter, 1904-2007.
