Paul Pernell Sholar was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (cum laude 1937) and native of North Carolina. This collection contains three items: a University of North Carolina commencement ball announcement (1850), a Wake Forest College commencement announcement (1868), and an undated handwritten household inventory of dining wares.

Biographical and Historical Note

Paul Pernell Sholar was an alumnus of Wake Forest College (cum laude 1937) and native of North Carolina who lived in Gaston County and New Hanover County at different points in his life. He was born in Bessemer City, N.C., on January 11, 1913. In 1941, he married Gladys Malpass. Sholar worked as Manager of Sales and Miscellaneous Taxes for CSX Railroad. He died on August 27, 2002.

Collection Overview

This collection contains 3 items: a University of North Carolina card announcing a Commencement Ball on June 2, 1850, a Wake Forest College Annual Commencement card announcing a "social party" for the graduating class on June 11, 1868, and a handwritten (undated) household inventory of dining wares including plates, bowls, serving pieces.
