dc.description.abstract Richard Furman, Jr. was pastor of the New Bern First Baptist Church, 1846-47, and later President of the South Carolina Baptist State Convention from 1877 to 1879.His letter, written from New Bern, North Carolina Sept. 3, 1846, to Archibald McDowell, Forestville, North Carolina discusses the case of George Stevenson's conversion and mentions Samuel Wait (1789-1867). en_US
