Finding Aid & Inventory

WFU's Student Health Services (SHS) provides medical services to University students and is affiliated with the Wake Forest Emergency Medical Services (Wake EMS). This collection documents the work of Student Health Services personnel and the construction of a health center. Also included are registers, that contain lists of students along with hospital stay information and other treatment information.

Biographical and Historical Note

WFU's Student Health Services (SHS) provides medical services to University students in the Winston-Salem, N.C., area. A Student Health fee covers routine office visits, though they have the ability to conduct some kinds of tests, procedures, X-ray examinations, and labs, and fill some prescriptions. Wake Forest Emergency Medical Services (Wake EMS) is a volunteer, student-run EMS organization that works alongside SHS. As of 2019, SHS has a staff of 28 to provide medical care to students on the Reynolda campus.

Collection Overview

This collection documents the work of Student Health Services personnel and the construction of a health center. Also included are registers, that contain lists of students along with hospital stay information and other treatment information.

This collection is arranged into three series: Series 1. Administration Files and Reports, Series 2. Building Plans, and Series 3. Patient Registers. Series 1. is divided into files and 5 sub-series: Subseries A. Annual report, Subseries B. Budget papers, Subseries C. Orudis, Protocol # 412A-412-US, materials, Subseries D. Problem Monitoring Reports, and Subseries E. Statistics.
