Biographical and Historical Note

David Needham Gore was born in Columbus, North Carolina in 1835 and was a graduate of Wake Forest College (circa 1858). Across his life, Gore held several occupations including teacher, physician, missionary, and pastor. Reverend Gore was the first pastor of the Piney Forest Church after it was organized in 1869 until 1875 and then again from 1877-1879. In 1871, he led in the organization of the Sunday School. It is unclear but possible that Gore was part of the Confederate States Army during Civil War under the 18th, North Carolina Regiment, as a chaplain.
