WFU's Public Information Office, now known as the Office of Communications and External Relations, is the official headquarters for managing the University's media. Collection materials include correspondences, faculty records, news releases, speeches, proposals and resolutions, questionaires, office records, as well as various campaign and committee records.

Biographical and Historical Note

WFU's Public Information Office is now known as the Office of Communications and External Relations. It is the official headquarters for managing the University's media, including the first point of contact for reporters and distributing news on and off campus about university proceedings.

Collection Overview

This collection contains records of WFU's Public Information Office. Materials include correspondences, faculty records, news releases and clippings, speeches and other public addresses, proposals and resolutions, reports. questionaires, office records, as well as various campaign and committee records. News releases vary from campus academic and administrative notifications to announcing honorary degrees, obituaries, and anniversary proceedings.

This collection is arranged into 7 series: Series 1. Correspondence; Series 2. Faculty (Files); Series 3. Founder's Day Speeches and Related Materials; Series 4. Honorary Degrees; Series 5. News Releases; Series 6. Obituaries; and Series 7. Office Files. Within each series, there may be subseries regarding specific topics.
