Joseph G. Miller was a native of Tennessee and served as a Baptist pastor in North Carolina, Florida, Texas, and Tennessee. He also served as an associational missionary of the Western North Carolina Baptist Association.

His papers consist of biographical information; his diploma from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (1951); a drawing of the First Baptist Church, Bryson City, North Carolina; and photographs of his graduating class at Carson-Newman College (1948), the Class of 1951, Southwestern (1951), a seminary extension class, Murphy First Baptist Church (ca. 1959), a plaque on First Baptist Church, Bryson City, and the ground-breaking (?) for First Baptist Church, Bryson City (undated).
