Biographical and Historical Note
Tassels was a women's leadership honor fraternity at Wake Forest, established in 1947 as a sister sorority to Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK). Establishing students include Vivian Kerbaugh (1948), Dorothy "Doti" Haworth (1948), Virginia Norment (1947), Mary Francis "Fran" Harrell (1947), Kay Williams (1948), Wilhelmina Rish (1947), Elizabeth "Lib" Hutchins (1947), ODK brother Joseph "Dewey" Hobbs (1947), and Dean of Women Lois Johnson. Tassels became a chapter of the national organization Mortar Board during the 1968-1969 academic year. Mortar Board is a national college senior honor society whose members are selected for excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service and as of 2019, a WFU chapter still exists.

This collection containts Tassels's meeting minutes from their preliminary organization, April 22, 1947 to October 9, 1962. Item 1 was transferred from Dean of Women's Office on August 20, 1984.
