Biographical and Historical Note

Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church was originally an arm of the Trinity Baptist Church in Caswell County, N.C. and met at Sycamore Grove. The 1843 session of the Beulah Baptist Association had, "granted the request of Trinity Church in relation to constituting an arm of that church at Sycamore Grove into a separate church" and this arm was so constituted into a separate and independent church, November 11, 1843. Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church was also known as Sycamore Grove Baptist Church from 1843-1845. The name was changed to Kerrs Chapel Baptist Church at the March, 1845 church conference to honor John Kerr.
