Biographical and Historical Note
The Mud Creek Baptist Church was organized in 1804 at the Mud Creek Meeting House in Henderson County, N.C., with twenty-five charter members. Mud Creek had been a branch of French Broad Church. In 1848, the church split into two factions. One faction joined the UNION II [E] association under James Blythe and J.M. Bryan, circa 1848. In January 1855, the UNION II [E] Mud Creek church reunited with the SALEM [E] Mud Creek church and they continued as one church in the SALEM [E].
