Biographical and Historical Note

Constituted on November 30, 1879 at Spring Hill Academy by Elders G.P. Moore and Orren Churchill and by 14 charter members from Mt. Gilead and Trade Hill, and by baptism William Hackney and T.J. Council were elected deacons; Hackney was also elected clerk, and O. Churchill was elected as their first pastor. The church was not listed after 1897 in the printed minutes of the Mount Zion Baptist Association, and it is assumed that the church became extinct.
