Antioch Baptist Church was established in 1806 as Haw River Mountain Baptist Church.

Collection Overview

Minutes of church conferences from their constitution as Haw River Mountain Baptist Church from Cane Creek Baptist Church, Aug. 20, 1806 to Jan. 8, 1881, including male and female membership rolls; rules of decorum; and treasurer's reports. Subjects include the appointment of delegates to Sandy Creek (1806) and other association; the election and ordination of their deacons; financial matters; the arms of the church at Sandy Field and Lick Creek; the licensing of Thomas Street (1806) and George Patterson (Sept. 1819); the reception, dismissal, and discipline of church members; the selection of a pastor; committee appointments and reports; a deed to the church property (1854); the sale of Mountain Meeting House and the land (1830); the first conference as Antioch Baptist Church, Sept. 1830; a camp meeting held in 1842; and the trial of Rev. R. A. Patterson, 1864. This volume was transcribed from the "old book of records" in 1850. The ledger-size volume contains ink markings.
