- abstract
- Type 2 Diabetes is a complex disease characterized by a combination of environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors. This study seeks to explore the genetic component of diabetes risk through evaluation of a candidate gene, ADIPOQ, encoding the adiponectin protein. Adiponectin is an adipocytokine that has been implicated in a wide variety of biomedical pathways, including glucose homeostasis and energy metabolism.
