Biographical and Historical Note

Carthage Baptist Church was organized May 10, 1858. It has been a member of the Sandy Creek (1858-1949) and South Sandy Creek, now Sandhills (1949-present) Baptist associations. The church became "First" Baptist in 1985.

Collection Overview

Records consist of minutes of church conferences from Sept. 8, 1889 to July 20, 1924, including membership rolls. Other records are the deacon's record book, 1917-32 [broken series]; the Seventy-Five Million Campaign account book, 1919-24; treasurers' records 1920-31 [broken series]; and records of the Baptist Young People's Training Union, 1921; and the Sunday School, 1910-37.
