Captain John Berry (1798-1870) was an architect and builder. He built the original College's Wait Hall, some professors' homes at Wake Forest College, and other private and public buildings in North Carolina. This collection is comprised of materials collected by Henry S. Stroupe regarding Berry's career, including correspondence, news clippings, photocopies, and printed items.

Biographical and Historical Note

John Berry (1798-1870) was an architect and builder of the courthouse in Hillsborough, N.C., and the first building (Wait Hall) on the Wake Forest College campus.
