Biographical and Historical Note

Ijames Cross Roads Baptist Church of Mocksville, North Carolina was first organized in September of 1897 by Reverend J. N. Stallings and others. Another historical note: The church's original covenant from 1897 references the keeping of slaves. In the covenant, members promise to "instruct all those under our immediate care or charge, whether bond or free" and "conduct ourselves with a Christian deportment towards our slaves."
