Biographical and Historical Note

Polkton Baptist Church was organized as Piney Grove on August 19, 1853. The presbytery consisted of Samuel P. Moton, Solomon Snider, and John Broadaway. Association memberships include Pee Dee (1853-1873, 1892-1909), Brown Creek (1874-1881), Anson (1882-1892, 1910-present). Polkton Baptist Church was known as Piney Grove (1853-1875) and Polktown (1875-1881). In 1881, the church became known as Polkton.
