Salem Gazette ��� Nov. 1 1861. "On Saturday afternoon the Drill-club were presented each with a copy of the New Testament and Psalms, the Co. being massed about the Captain�۪s tent to receive the gift, which appeared to be highly appreciated, and which subsequent indications have shown, were not proved to be seed fallen upon stony ground or by the wayside."

Salem Gazette Dec. 3rd 1861 "Swindling everywhere" Yesterday for the second time a large batch of letters was received at the Salem Post Office from members of Co. F. 23rd Mass. Vols. franked by John B. Alley, for which notwithstanding, regular postage was charged, and paid by the recipients.
