Biographical and Historical Note
Concord Baptist Church, located in Duplin County, North Carolina, is a member of the Eastern Baptist Association. In the past, the church was a member of the Cape Fear (1825-1826), Goshen (1827-1844), and Union (1844-1865) Baptist associations. The first conference was held at Concord in 1807, it then being a branch of Bulltail (now Wells Chapel Baptist Church). It continued as such with the same deacons and clerks serving each place until February 18, 1825 when it was constituted a separate church, Elders Raphel, Fennell, and Stallings officiating. There were fifteen charter members -- 7 males; 7 females; and 1 servant. In 1835 twenty-four members were dismissed to form Beaverdam (now Magnolia). In 1853, thirty-two members were given letters of dismission in order that they might organize Carroll's Chapel (now Corinth). In April of 1866, the Corinth membership (after having dissolved their church) were received into Concord. In June, they were granted their letters to re-organize Corinth again.
